Wednesday!

FYI:
*HELP!!! No one signed up for helping to stuff Wed. folders.  Would anyone be able to help us out? We did NOT get those stuffed and given today! I'm so sorry, but without an assistant in the 4th grade, my TOP priority is teaching YOUR kids first! So...hopefully they will be sent home tomorrow! :)
*Lunch Bunch:This week will be the first week we will have Lunch Bunch.  Reasons why your child *may not* get to attend: not having HW, not having planner signed.  3 Strikes and You're Out! :)

Reading:
Students worked on the spelling of their vocab. words in small groups today.  Their tests will be on Friday of this week!  Students also practiced and modeled effective Lit. groups today.  I can't wait to give them their Lexile leveled books and groups next week!  We also split into leveled reading groups and worked on more main idea/referring to details work in text.
HW: practice spelling vocab. words
{vocab groups: SAT words, Wordly Wise, Synonyms, Dolch}

Writing:
We are continuing with our anti-bullying opinion pieces.  We are getting all kinds of great discussions out of this and it is going right along with our standards!  Today, we read another article, and then listed different consequences of the bullies from the School Bus Monitor video.  We began writing our introduction and first paragraph of our opinion piece today!
No HW

Math:
Today we reviewed place value.  Students worked in leveled small groups with me going over items they needed more challenges with or more help with.  When student's weren't working with me, they were with Ms. Wilham (our student teacher) working on comparing, ordering, expanded form, word form, and patterns.
*Our test is on Friday!
No HW

SS: Today students learned about cardinal and intermediate directions using a compass rose.  Then they used those new directional words along with some relative location words to find their way through a castle!
No HW

Have a great night,
Mrs. Burton
