Thursday!

Welcome Back!
The kids were soo good today! You must have worn them out on their Snow Day! :)

FYI:
Book Club Letters Due
We need DIMES! For March of Dimes :)

Science LO: I can forecast the weather based on weather patterns.
Activity: The kids did so great with this! Students used their weather symbols knowledge to predict weather.  We worked together on forecasting weather and looking at real weather maps.  Then students worked on forecasting weather on www.edheads.org.  This is SUCH a cool site!! Have your child play this site for extra credit! Use the 'predicting weather' button.  This also helped us with our state knowledge for the placement of states on a map!
No HW

SS LO: I can research a NE Region state. AND I can name the states and capitals of the USA.
Activity: Students worked today on finishing up their research on the NE region they chose.  Students have a poster they are creating to learn more about that state.  Students used safe sites on the Internet to search.
Students also worked more on their states and capitals memorization.  Students began making flashcards to help practice this.  We also listened and sang along on our song! Find it on a below post on the blog post below!  The test is hopefully going to be next week.
No HW

Math LO: I can do LOTS with decimals! :)
Lots =
compare, order, add/sub, change decimals to fractions, place decimals on a number line, identify decimal place value, round decimals, and write decimals in expanded form/word form
Shoo Wee!
Activity:  How we did this was Miss Kirk and I split up into 2 groups.  We called up to 3 students at a time and reviewed and did practice on each of these skills to form a more one-on-one atmosphere to help the kiddos.  The other students were using some great educational websites that helped with the above standards as well! PLEASE do not overlook the websites on my blog! The kids can learn a LOT from these, and they actually like playing these!! Anytime your child wants to play, write me a little note and he will receive extra credit!
Below are the sites students were able to work on:

Circle Group: I can multiply decimals.
Activity: This group worked with me on decimals with multiplication.  I actually realized I did NOT do a very good intro activity for them on Tuesday! SO SORRY kiddos!! I did not explain the place value movement of the decimal well to the group. So today we focused solely on the movement of the decimal point!
HW: #4 only on the sheet
Have a great night!
