**The Weekly Reading/Math packet was HUGE from Scoot Pad. I apologize for that. The site asks you to complete a "general" questions page to help base your child where he/she needs to work on.  I will use that information as well as MAP data to create your child's individualized reading/math packet for the weeks that follow.

***Conferences:  I will be sending a Conference Sheet home Friday OR Monday. I wanted to see how many students were able to finish the MAP tests first before I scheduled conferences so I would have that data.  I still have several students who need to complete the tests.

****I was out yesterday with my daughter being sick. I had an amazing note from the sub on how well behaved and mannerly my students were. Thought some of you Moms and Dads would appreciate hearing that, too! Always nice to know your students represented the class and school in a positive way! :)

Friday/Monday

What another crazy snow week!
I apologize for not blogging this week - I have been very under the weather, so all my energy has gone into teaching my sweet students...and then collapsing afterwards! :)

We enjoyed the career fair today and got to listen to 4 speakers.  Please refer to your child's notes about each one!

Next Week:
Monday - I will be out at a Math Conference so there will be no blog.

Tuesday & Wednesday: Students are taking a scrimmage KPrep test for each subject they are tested in.  This will serve as a practice for students as well as to see what else we need to work on in terms on answering standardized testing for the spring. Please make sure your child gets plenty of rest and eats a good breakfast those mornings!

Wednesday - Snow Day

** God love the Transportation People.....

Anyways... I wanted to let you know a little more about Showcase Night!  Our class created Prezi's to show off our knowledge of math concepts and technology.  However, our laptops are not as smart as we are... :)  The laptop carts GSE has are not supporting the Prezi presentation.  Prezi is similar to Movie Maker + Power Point but MUCH BETTER. It is the NEW way of presenting information.  Anyways, I've had an invitation for you all to send home, but I've been waiting to see WHERE we will be! So, most likely we will be in the computer lab INSTEAD of our classroom.  You are more than welcome to visit our classroom, too, but our main presentation will be in the computer lab.  Your child will know how to take you there and hopefully I will have a sign to remind you.  Be looking for your invitation tomorrow and SORRY about the delay!

If you are unable to attend Showcase Night, I think I can email your child's Prezi to you.  I will work on that Friday.

**Also, The BOOK FAIR is not this Thursday - but it is the first week of March (I believe).  Our class would LOVE to have I Survived: The Nazi Invasion books donated to our classroom.  Our class has read almost all of the books of this series and we love them! This would be perfect as my class in very interested in the Holocaust.  If you are able to purchase some of the books for our room we would greatly appreciate it! You can do so by getting online through the Media Center and purchasing them before the book fair begins (money still goes to our school) or by purchasing them during the book fair.  They are $4.99 each with no tax (or ship if you do so online).

THANK YOU!

Letter coming home today! :)

February 17th Week:

Welcome to a {hopefully} 5 day week!  Things keep getting lost in translation over the snow days, etc., so here are a few reminder notices:

1.      Please read the blog for updated information.  I typically try to write 3-4 times a week.  Monday afternoons and Tuesday afternoons I have committee meetings and staff meetings, but I still try to get the homework or gist of the day written.

2.      Weekly Packets – students are still receiving weekly packets. Most of the time this is individually based to help your child. PLEASE be checking these packets as you see your child working on it.

3.      Class President – Our class has elected Jared as the class president. He will be running Class Meetings.  He is currently passing an Olympic Torch (paper of course!:) ) around to the ‘student of the day’.  Ask your child if you’ve received this honor yet!

4.      Planners & Behavior – students should be showing you their planner daily.  It should have the learning outcome written in the subject box OR the homework for the night.  Students should also be writing down their daily behavior in the yellow box.  This is where they land on the Clip Chart each day.

5.      At Home Programs – some students are earning extra credit at home! Is your child? Programs include: Lexia, Success Maker, Kahn Academy, Splash Math, online Reading & Math sites (given at conference time).  If you need to know what your child can be working on, please let me know!  Just write it in the planner and your child receives extra credit in that subject!

6.      Showcase Night – Feb. 27th 5-6:30   We will be showing you an awesome Prezi presentation on our Math Workshop as well as taking you through a couple of the rotations.  The kids have worked HARD on this! If you are not going to be able to make it, please let me know and I will be able to email you your child’s Prezi presentation after we finish them.

Thanks!! J

Happy Valentine's Day!

Hi! Thanks so much for all the positive comments about the change time of the party! I appreciate it! I know it's so hard to accommodate everyone but I tried to do what was best for the kids! Party days are also a little crazy as the kids are excited.  I wanted to keep it today as to not wait until next Friday and have an 'extra' hyper day added! :) Thank you for understanding!

We've had a great week despite this crazy weather! The kids are really doing well getting back into the swing of things.

Next week we will be doing some review, but we got through a lot this week!

On Monday I will have a full update of the learning outcomes for the week!

But for tonight, ask your kids about PREZI that we learned this morning and have a great Valentine's Day!

Friday - !00th Day of school

We had a great day today! The kids are so sweet and are so ready to get back to learning!! We accomplished as much new and catch-up stuff as we could!!

Michael made us so proud this morning at the Spelling Bee! A fellow 4th grader won for our school!

Reading Packets can be turned in on MONDAY without any penalty! I know Thursday was sort of a surprise day off! After Monday it will count against their grade.

Students WILL be having HW this weekend. I almost never give HW over the weekend, but the kids are excited about it! Please help them remember they have HW! And let's pray for us to not have a 3-day weekend!! haha :)

Below is a copy of the HW just in case since our routine is different and a child may forget.

Watch at least one Winter Olympic sport to answer the following prompt.

Which sport did you choose? Imagine you are one of the lead reporters of this sport.  Retell the race/performance in 3rd person.  Include real details and good word choice!
