Tuesday

Hope you had a wonderful, long weekend!

Friday was such a success with the kids - thank you for helping me get it all together! :) I think they really enjoyed it!

Today we worked on word-meanings: homophones.  We also finished our weather skit and were able to watch it on the DVD. It was so fun!  Students also worked on some math.

This afternoon 4th grade had planned a pizza&thepark day, but because of the heat index, we decided to keep it indoors with the AC and watched a little bit of a movie with our pizza.  Each afternoon I will be having a fun incentive for good behavior from the mornings. :)

FYI:
*4th Grade 9 weeks awards program: Friday @ 12:15
*Our class Pool Party at Molly's pool (Firebrook): Wednesday, 4-7. I will be there as soon as we are finished with interviews (I'm on the committee).
*Summer Work packets will be coming home TOMORROW in the kid's backpacks
*Report Cards will be mailed to you

Have a good night,

Tuesday

Sorry for not posting yesterday. I was out for my husband's grandmother's funeral unexpectedly.

Today we worked on math word problems and logic problems.  We also worked more on our weather skits and are hoping to start taping with the FLIP cameras tomorrow! We also wrote letters in cursive to our 5th grade teachers (we don't know who they are getting, they just picked a person) telling them all about ourselves, what we like to do, and what we are expecting in 5th grade.  Lastly, we watched the PAC play!!

*Letters for Friday - please send those in ASAP.  Also, if you'd like to send in a dessert or plates we will take it!

Thursday

KY Day!
We had a great day today! We began the day with learning more cursive! It's beautiful! Ask your child to write you something! Next, we moved on to our presentations.  They were awesome!  After that we built log homes and talked about how/why early Kentuckians had log homes. Next, Mrs. Giles brought in KY hot browns for us to eat! Yummy! Lastly, we played a Famous KY People jeopardy game!
Here are some pictures from our day!

*Don't forget - tomorrow is FUN Day and Kite Day!!! :) Please check below in the older posts to find some 'must haves' from Ms. Timaji! Oh, and pray for sunshine for the kids! We've had wacky weather this year during their fun events! ha!

Wednesday

FYI:
MAP testing is over! :) We completed the math this morning.
Kite Day is also Friday. Please have your child bring his/her kite Friday morning.
TOMORROW is KY day! Kids are to dress up like the person they chose to 'be' and we will do fun KY things all day! Kids will also be tasting some mini hot browns and hopefully ale-8 (still working on that!).
Students who did not turn in their Math HW can still turn it in tomorrow for partial credit.

Today we completed the MAP math all morning.  Then we worked on finishing our KY projects for tomorrow.  A few students still have a little bit to work on tonight as HOMEWORK.  Next, we began our Weather News Unit.  We decided we wanted to write a script and have a weather/news report but didn't have time during our weather unit and getting the other science content in before CATS.  So, now we have time! Each child got to pick their job (we did this back in Feb., and surprisingly I knew where to find the paper!) and each person has a neat part in the newcast! Can't wait to see the final product!

We did not have Specials today due to being in the computer lab this morning, so kids enjoyed watching The Jetsons during their specials time so I could still meet for my conferences.

Have a good night,

If you have an idea or want to do a KY craft with us, please let me know! I'd love it! :)  PS- please do not spend any money on the outfits - we can be very creative with paper here if we need to be!

We also reviewed lots of math today! We take our MAP math test on Wednesday morning.  We reviewed whole class and in small groups: addition (with decimals), subtraction (with decimals), multiplication, division, fractions, and measurement.

Today we focused our learning on Cinco de Mayo!
But first, I gave the Derby winner prizes! What cute jockey hats! :)  A lot of the other kids wanted them...they can be found at The Party Store for about $2 each.
Today we learned the days of the week and a song in Spanish, learned about different foods and their names, colors, learned about all the facial feature names, and the capitals and countries in South America! Ask your child to sing you the song!  All the stuff we did, the students have them in the red-take home folder.
