Monday

Hope you all had a wonderful Spring Break!!! I know I sure did!
The kids came in great today! I hope we can keep it up for the next 31 days!

FYI:
*MAP testing will be taking place this week. We will NOT have Reading Class on Wed. and Thurs. due to my MAP testing and Mrs. Maldonado's MAP testing. However, my reading students will still have vocabulary and lit. group reading to do.
*Raven Run Field Trip is THIS Friday. We need MONEY IN! Also, I need a few volunteers! If you'd like to go, please email me! (Your child will need to bring in a SACK lunch if he/she did not sign up to get school lunch)
*Conference Forms will be coming home in the Wed. Folders this week
*My homeroom class signed a Behavior Contract this morning. Those will also be coming home in the Wed. Folders this week

Science:
Today we had our pre-lesson for the 4H Dollars and Sense Program. It is super neat - ask your child about it! We used the rest of the time to discuss and fill out our Behavior Contracts for the rest of the school year.
No HW

Reading:
Students received their new vocab. packets. The test will be NEXT Thursday. They were to complete part A in class and study their words for 15 minutes tonight.
We also practiced Author's Purpose again. Students remembered PIE very well! They were to write about the same topic in all three PIE ways. They did a great job! Lastly, we got our new Lit. groups. Students were able to read a little bit out of their new book.
HW: practice vocab. words for 15 minutes/finish A on packets/SAT-just practice words

Math:
Miss Rickard began her unit on Algebraic Thinking.  Students took a pre-assessment and then learned about variables in number sentences.
No HW

Writing:
We finally finished up the rest of our Famous Women Animotos. Grades will be entered in soon.  Students also had DEAR time. Students are working on verbs/pronouns/nouns this week.
HW: watch at least 20 minutes of TV (yes, TV!) and write down as many verbs as they can hear or see in action!
