Happy Friday!
We had a wonderful day today!
Math: *In their planners, students should have their Math Center strip from today. If they bring it back in on Monday with a parent signature, they will receive extra credit in math.*
LO:
I can identify different multiplication properties.
I can solve mixed computations.
I can solve division problems that have a remainder.
I can identify the rule when given two numbers.
I can identify the patterns in a number sequence.
Activity: Today we did Math Learning Centers. There were five different centers, each working on a different skill. Students had seven minutes at each center.
Reading:
LO: I can draw conclusion and answer comprehensive questions from the text.
Activity: Students read individually or with a partner from their TIME for Kids magazine. We then discussed the main article, Four More Years, then students wrote some challenges they think President Obama may face in the next four years as President.
Science:
LO: I can recreate the possible environment from a time period on the geologic time scale, using inferences about that time period from the types of organisms that were alive.
Activity: Students were given a time period from the Geologic Time Scale randomly. After reading about that time period and studying the pictures, students made inferences about what the invironment may have been like during that period, and illustrated their time period on construction paper.
Writing:
LO: I can explain why I chose to illustrate the environment from my assigned time period the way I did, using full sentences and content language.
Activity: Time period activity described above.
We had a very busy day. In health, students learned about the heart, arteries and veins, and learned how to find their pulse. In guidance, students talked about recognizing emotions. We finished the day with book buddies.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend! I cannot wait to see all of their bright, smiling faces back here Monday morning!
Ms. Wilham
