Literacy Block:
SS LO's: I can make inferences about what life as an early Kentucky settler was like.
Activity: Reviewed what they learned while doing their Fort Boonesborough Web Quest, then read from their Social Studies Kentucky book, about the life of an early settler in Kentucky and discussed. Students then wrote a journal entry from the point of view of an early Kentucky Settler.
Reading LO's: I can compare different points of view.
Activity: We discussed the point of view their text book was written in and how it was different from the journal entries they would be writing. We also discussed whose point of view the story, My Brother Martin, was written in, and why this first person even though Martin Luther King was not the one that wrote it.
Writing LO's: I can write, using complete and correct sentences, from the point of view of an early Kentucky settler.
Activity: Students wrote journal entries from the point of view of an early Kentucky settler, talking about their day.
Math:
LO:I can identify different multiplication properties.
Activity: We did whole group discussion, and worked problems out together. Students then worked in pairs, creating their own problems that fit each of the four multiplication properties we went over. We finished with a handout that students worked on with their neighbors, then went over as a class.
