*Fluency Folder: NEW genre reading is being sent home.  This week we are focusing on Fantasy genre.  This is Week 3!

Science LO: I can explain the movement of the Earth, Sun and Moon.
Activity: Students had their quiz over our last unit today. We also created a list of things we learned this past unit. Our next unit will be about weather, so we created a list of what we already know about weather.


Reading LO: I can determine the meaning of the phrase "an Achilles' heel".
Activity: We read the story of Achilles and discussed the allusion "an Achilles' heel". Students also did a character trait map of Achilles and wrote a short story using the phrase "Achilles' heel" that they shared with a partner.


Writing LO: I can explain how an informative article is organized.
Activity: Together, we read an informative article about weather. Then, we created an outline of that article and looked at all of the different text features in the article.


Math LO: I can order decimals from least to greatest and greatest to least.
Activity: We began by ordering decimals on our individual whiteboards, then students were given note cards with decimals on them and had to put themselves in order. We also did an activity where students had a Post-It with a decimal on it on their back and they had to rely on others to help put them in order. This was a little tricky, but very fun!

HW-Students have a homework sheet on ordering decimals tonight.

I had a great first day of my solo week and am looking forward to day two tomorrow!! :)
