ScienceLO: I can compare and contrast weather from different parts of the world.
Activity: Miss Janecek, our swap student teacher, taught our lesson this morning. She did a great job! The students worked on a fun smartboard activity to begin comparing weather from different places on earth.  Then students read articles from Lexington and Ireland on weather.  Students had charts and graphs to read along with as well.  Next students determined the similarities and differences within the 2 places.  Lastly, students worked on a quick writing to tell about each place's weather.

Students also presented their projects this morning on their weather forecasting! They did a really great job! We are still working on presenting information well! Here are a few pictures of the projects.  One group will present on Monday.

ReadingLO: I can recount an experience in an organized manner.
Activity: Today's reading focused more on the speaking and listening skills.  Students watched a short clip from the Discovery channel on tornadoes and then recounted the information.  We did an I Do, We Do, You Do series to help with this skill.  By the end, students were really listening and retaining information a lot better! We will continue this skill next week!
**Extra Credit: read an article from the newspaper or from Kentucky.com and bring in the article you read!

WritingLO: I can create an introduction to my article.
Activity: Today we looked back at our Tornado article from yesterday and we created introductions to our articles.  Students then peer shared within their table groups.

MathLO: I can describe Pi.
Activity: Happy Pi Day! 3-14   Today we worked on different Pi problems learning about circumference.  We read a fun book titled, Sir Cumference and the Dragon of Pi, and then worked on an activity with finding the Pi of a green Oreo (for St. Patrick's Day).  After we found Pi for the cookie, we ate it!!!
