Kiddos get to wear their PJ's and we will watch a G movie during lunch! Please make sure your child still wears/brings tennis shoes for outdoor recess and a coat!!

**Please put a STAR on your child's planner for Monday if you read the blog! Thank you for your continued support!

*Reading and Math were cut short so we could fit both in. We had Conservation today.  It was our last Conservation class.

SS LO: I can identify characteristics of the Northeast Region.
Activity: Today we read text on the Northeast region.  We learned about the importance of the 13 colonies as well as what the NE provides for us now.    Students began a quick research project on one state they chose from the NE region.
HW: complete the states and capitals on their gray map

Science LO: none today

Writing LO: I can brainstorm ideas for my informational writing piece.
Activity: We are going to be starting a research project on weather.  Students will be able to choose their topic based on weather or a specific storm, research, write an article, and then record it as a podcast.  We began by brainstorming different types of weather and specific storms.
No HW

Reading LO: I can compare similar themes and symbols from different genres of reading.
Activity: After we went over the allusions students learned about last week with Miss Kirk, we read a Greek Myth and a German Folk Tale.  We compared the themes of the stories as well as the characters, symbols used, and overall structure of the text.  I was very impressed on how well the students did! We will continue this tomorrow.
No HW

**Fluency Folder: New reading this week - Poem

Math LO: I can write and read decimals and I can add decimals in word problems.
Activity: Students worked on using place value - standard form, expanded form, word form with decimals in word problems as well as standard problems.  Students also worked with word problems with decimals to not only work with adding but also to line up the decimals correctly.
